The debug menu lets you warp to maps, trigger battles, edit inventory and stats, and more — without playing through the game normally.
Enabling the debug menu
The debug menu is enabled by default. If it's been disabled, set DX_DEBUG_MENU to 1 in dx/config.h:
#define DX_DEBUG_MENU 1Controls
Once in-game, press D-Pad Left to open the debug menu.
| Button | Action |
|---|---|
| D-Pad | Select option |
| R | Confirm selection |
| L | Cancel / close menu |
Features
The debug menu has many options. Here are some highlights:
- Load Map — warp to any map by name
- Load Battle — start any battle formation directly
- Story Progress — change the current story progress value
- Inventory — add or remove items, badges, and key items
- Stats — edit HP, FP, BP, star points, coins, star pieces, and level
- Partners — add partners and change the active partner
Sound Player
Open Sound Player, then choose Sound for the hexadecimal sound-effect Play/Stop controls or Music for a named song browser.
In Music, Up/Down selects a song and wraps at the ends. Left/Right moves nine entries at a time and stops at the ends. Press R to play or restart, Z to stop, and L to go back. Returning to the browser retains the selected entry. Pressing R again also replays a finished jingle without needing to stop first.
The list is generated from the project's resolved song IDs, so it follows song additions and deletions. An unmodified DX build lists the 143 named vanilla songs. Selecting a song does not change audio assets or save data; normal map and battle music scripts can take over playback.
Quick launch
To skip the title screen and load a save file immediately, set DX_QUICK_LAUNCH in dx/config.h:
#define DX_QUICK_LAUNCH 1You can also quick-launch directly into a specific battle. Uncomment and edit this line in config.h:
#define DX_QUICK_LAUNCH_BATTLE "nok:goomba_2", "nok_01"Performance profiler
Set USE_PROFILER to 1 in dx/config.h to show a performance profiler overlay. Toggle it in-game with L + D-Pad Up.
